About the Conference

The Docera Future Physician Conference is designed to encourage scholarly engagement, scientific curiosity, professional communication, and deeper exploration of medicine among aspiring future physicians.

Students may submit original work across a variety of medical and healthcare focused categories including clinical education, medical editorials, literature reviews, patient communication, public health, ethics, and healthcare innovation.

Selected students will present their work during a national virtual conference featuring physician keynote speakers, educational sessions, poster presentations, networking opportunities, and student recognition awards.

Submission Categories

Medical Editorials

Accessible medical writing explaining diseases, treatments, ethics, or healthcare topics.

Example: Ethical Considerations in Organ Transplant Allocation

Clinical Topic Presentations

Educational presentations exploring clinical reasoning, diagnosis, or treatment approaches.

Example: How Physicians Approach Chest Pain in the Emergency Department

Literature Reviews & Research Analysis

Projects synthesizing and interpreting current medical literature and scientific research.

Example: New Developments in Alzheimer’s Disease Treatment

Public Health & Healthcare Innovation

Projects focused on health systems, disparities, prevention, patient access, or medical innovation.

Example: Addressing Healthcare Disparities in Rural Communities

Patient Communication & Medical Education

Educational materials designed to improve health literacy and patient understanding.
Example: A Patient Guide to Understanding Hypertension

Eligibility

The conference is open to:

  • High school students interested in medicine or healthcare

  • Undergraduate pre-med students

  • Students participating in physician mentorship, research, or scholarly medical projects

Students do not need to be enrolled in a Docera program to apply.

Evaluation Criteria

All submissions are reviewed by physicians, medical educators, and healthcare professionals with experience in clinical medicine, scientific communication, mentorship, and academic scholarship. Projects are evaluated holistically using criteria designed to reflect strong scholarly communication, intellectual engagement, and professionalism appropriate for aspiring future physicians.
